MOUNTAIN BIKING IN THE KHANGAI MOUNTAINS

This tour goes over the Khangai Mountains, and great rivers valley. Our route takes us over high mountain passes and through remote valleys in a country where the only inhabitants are nomadic families with their herds of yaks and sheep. The local people are extremely hospitable and passing travellers are invited into almost every Ger along the way for a drink and some fresh cheese. The scenery is wild and beautiful and the tracks a mountain bikers dream. Daily riding distance varies up to a maximum of 65km.

Day 1

Arrive at Chinggis khaan international airport and meet our guide. Transfer to Terelj National Park. Short stop on Terelj Ovoo-means shamanist sacred stones. After lunch visit to Turtle Rock and Aryabal Meidtion temple. Free time for leisure. Overnight at Mongolian traditional felt GER camp.

Day 2

Short hiking to the mountain see picturesque scenery of National Park.After lunch. Return to Ulaanbaatar. Sukhbaatar square Mongolian 0.00 point statue. Zaisan hill-overview of Ulaanbaatar city, Bogd khaan winter palace. Catch a train to Erdenet town. Overnight in train.

Day 3

Arrive Erdenet town. Start riding to Bugat village. Overnight at tent.

Day 4

Ride a bike to between mountains along river Khojir. Arrive river Selenge. It is Mongolian biggest river. Overnight at tent.

Day 5

Bike into the Khangai Mountains near the Hyalganat village. Overnight at tent.

Day 6

Bike to Khangal village. Overnight at tent.

Day 7

Bicycle to over Burengiin pass Baruunburen village. Overnight at tent.

Day 8

Bicycle to Amarbayasgalant Monastery. It is the best preserved old temple in Mongolia. This is main Chinese style temple in Mongolia: architecture, plan of various temple buildings and artistic details deserve a careful visit. The temple is in use and inhabited by many monks. Overnight at GER camp.

Day 9

Bike to Orkhon River Bridge. Overnight at tent.

Day 10

Bike to Darkhan town. Evening catch a train to Ulaanbaatar city. Overnight at train.

Day 11

Arrive at Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to hotel. After lunch Sightseeing Gandan monastery, Janraiseg - World’s biggest standing god, Natural Historical Museum and Traditional Folklore concert. Overnight in hotel

Day 12

Check out hotel. Transfer to airport. Departure.
