Ulaanbaatar will service by new 400 Hyundai cars

Over 400 taxi are starting in Ulaanbaatar. The “Ulaanbaatar taxi service” company has imported 400 “Elentra” auto cars made by “Hyundai motors” company of South Korea in December of 2010. The remaining 800 will appear here soon. All the cars work both on gas and petrol.
 As the company supposes, this action is their contribution to the deeds of reducing of the city's air pollution, "besides, passengers will feel themselves very comfortable in our cars." Other features are a new united payment system and issuing of receipts.

Mongolia to Launch Summer Tourism Season Soon

People planning summer holidays in Mongolia this year will be happy to hear the announcement that the country’s tourism season is almost ready to open.  “The summer tourism timetable will begin in mid April” said Narantuya, senior officer at the Tourism Department, Ministry for Tourism of Mongolia.  “Tourism exhibitions and other related events are being organized abroad and home to promote the country and its tourism industry” she stressed.  “Recent participation in prestigious international tourism events as partner country like ITB Berlin Convention will hopefully increase the number of inbound tourists to Mongolia this year” Narantuya said.  “The most dominating types of tourism in Mongolia are adventure tourism and ecotourism.  In recent years, foreign tourists are also more attractive to special interest tourism types including trekking, hiking and biking” she told.

The ideal Mongolia travel season starts in May and hits its highest peak in July, during the Naadam Holiday, and in August when the weather is most favorable for traveling. 

Mongolia is a vast emptiness that links land and sky, and is one of the last few places on the planet where nomadic life is still exist. It is this vast and majestic emptiness that is the country’s enduring appeal, bringing the traveler, as it does, into a close communion with nature and its nomadic inhabitants.

The country is nicknamed the “Land of Blue Skies,” and with good reason. There is said to be about 250 sunny days throughout each year.

The country’s most popular attractions with visitors include Naadam Holiday or Three Manly Games, Gobi Desert, Khuvsgul Lake, Erdene Zuu Monastery, Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, Terelj National Park and others.

 
“In order to expand tourism scope to attract more tourists, we are keen to intensify winter tourism in the country” said Narantuya.

“Particularly, winter attractions include Thousand Camel Festival held in mid February, Eagle Festival held twice a year, Ice Festival held every February in Khuvsgul Lake” she added.

Several organizations will protect tourists' safety

According to 2010 report of world tourism organization, tourism in countries of Asian-Pacific has increased by 13% of total 204 million tourists compare to last year, and it is twice larger than average of world grow.  Also, tourists who traveled in Asia had higher impression than other countries and in this region, according to statistic; tourists might increase by 7-9% in 2011.

In Mongolia, the most comfortable and enjoyable tourism season is from June to September and 80% out of total tourists come to Mongolia.

Since the tourism in Mongolia is increasing, government and non-government organization, special associations are needed to gather together.  Therefore,  a tourists safety memorandum has been signed between Ministry of Nature, Environment and  Tourism, Mongolian National Tourism Center, Tourism office of Ulaanbaatar city, The city police, Mongolian tourism association, and Mongolia's students association.

The memorandum has reflected a cooperation plan to prevent here tourists from crimes and to provide them with safe environment. Within the memorandum, they will have working the plan.

80 million years old dinosaur skeleton from Mongolian Gobi desert

In the world, there a few numbers of countries are rich of findings and Mongolia is one of them. Mongolian Gobi desert has brought million of years history by itself until present.  From here, there were found many historical types of china such as New Stone Ages weapon, antique of Bronze Age, Tureg’s time grave mound, Chinggis Khaan’s time weapon and coins and Chinese china.

However, one of the most important findings is dinosaur skeleton.  Its age is 80 million years and it is marvelous that was kept for that long time.  It might be rolling around in Mongolian Gobi’s livestock and it has almost no different looking of spread bone of livestock.  It is obvious that local people have seen those for thousand years

"Genghis Khan" by Jack Weatherford

"Genghis Khan" book by doctor Jack Weatherford was elected as bestseller as beating "Change" book by 2,440 vote of total 3,955 in first level of competition.  Readers were assuming the "Change" might beat the "Genghis Khan".  Now, the "Genghis Khan" book is in battle with "Shadowfever" book in second level of competition.

In last weekend, March 26th-27th, Mongolian Tourism Fair - ITM (International Tourism Mart) 2011 held regularly at Misheel Center in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.  The fair was organized by Mongolian Tourism Association, Department of Metropolitan Tourism, and "Mongolian Nomadic"   There were many participants who were representing their hotels, tourist camps, restaurants, airline carriers.

Musicians from Kazakhstan to perform on March 22

 

The Kazakh people will observed Nau Roz, their traditional new year celebration, on March 22. As in other years, a 15-member team of musicians from Kazakhstan will present a performance on the occasion. This will be at Children’s Palace on March 21. The main attraction will be the singer N.Abai.

Prime Minister Will Be Participating At Opening of Chinggis Khaan Exhibition

Prime Minister S. Batbold takes time off tomorrow from his busy political schedule in Singapore to open an exhibition on Chinggis Khaan at ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands. “Genghis Khan: The Exhibition” is the largest collection of Chinggis Khaan artifacts ever assembled and makes an exclusive Asian appearance in Singapore.

On show from February 17 to April 10, the exhibition will take visitors on a journey back to 13th-century Mongolia where they experience stunning re-creations of Mongolia’s grasslands and battlegrounds, and walk among the archaeological artifacts and weaponry of the Mongol Empire.  The 1,500-square meter exhibition will tell the story of the legendary conqueror whose innovation, technological mastery and cultural creativity gave him the reputation of one of the world’s greatest, yet most misunderstood, leaders.

It boasts over 200 rare authentic treasures from the conqueror’s reign.

Khoomii is registred by UNESCO

Mongolia has received a certificate saying that the Mongolian khoomii--throat singing--has been registered with the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. A ceremony to hand over the certificate ran January 29 with a presence of Minister of Education, culture and sciences G.Otgonbayar, a head of the Culture commission B.Lkhagvasuren and a head of the National museum J.Saruulbuyan. After this action, an exhibition themed "Intangible Cultural Heritage: living tradition" was opened in the museum. A secretary-general of UNESCO in Mongolia, D.Dalaijargal has said,"A regular meeting of UNESCO in Nairobi, Kenya, confirmed that the Mongolian khoomii has been registered. Besides, we are greatly grateful for having the Mongolian Naadam festival registered." Every year, the state budget spends 77,4 million togrog for culture heritage protection. For funding the Mongolian khoomii development programme, a Culture development fund gave 14,5 million togrog in 2008, 45 million togrog in 2009. It has run the khomii-dedicated festival, symposium and ads. This unique kind of singing is spread in all aimags of Mongolia, especially where Khalkh Mongolian, Torguud, Uriankhai, Khoton, Bayad and Dorvod people live, also in Russian Yakutia, Tuva, Buryatia, Kalmykia and in Chinese Inner Mongolian Autonomous region.

Exhibition of Khunnu nobles

 

Research conference of Mongolian state’s 2220th anniversary observing and opening ceremony of exhibition Khunnu state’s nobles held in National Museum of Mongolia on January 31. National Committee to observe Mongolian state’s 2220th anniversary, Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Science Academy, Ministry of Defense and National Museum of Mongolia organized exhibition opening ceremony.

Exhibition Khunnu state’s nobles will display for ten days archeology excavation’s items of four significant nobles of Khunnu state, shell heaps after research and culture articles.

Tsagaan Sar - Mongolian Lunar New Year will be held between Feb.3-5

Tsagaan Sar is Mongolian Lunar New Year.  This is the second biggest holiday after Naadam.  The Tsagaan Sar is translated as White Moon.  This year's holiday will be hold between February 2nd and  5th.       

There are some greetings that greets with one another at holiday or even after it. 

  A: "Sar shinde saikhan shinelch baina uu?"

  B: "Saihan shinelch bain, sar shindee saikhan shinelch bain uu?"

Mongolian Embassy Opened in Kuwait

Historical moment between Mongolia and Kuwait, both of the countries have opened their embassies in each one another country.  This was new page for Mongolia and Kuwait relations on January 5, 2011 as the two sides have opened the Embassies in the first time after 35 year diplomatic relations. Kuwait opened the Embassy to Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar in 2010 and Mongolia opened the Embassy to Kuwait in Ali Kuwait yesterday.

Mongolian Prime Minister S.Batbold’s official visit to Kuwait is resuming with talks in science, technology, trade and business sectors. S.Batbold noted during the opening ceremony the Embassy to Kuwait will significantly develop relations and collaborations with Gulf countries and wished work success to the Embassy officials.
