Restaurants in Ulaanbaatar City

Over the past few years Ulaanbaatar has seen a culinary revolution with ever evolving and more sophisticated restaurants appearing on the scene. While Mongolian Cuisine is not renowned throughout the word for its refinement, there have been marked improvements with the arrival of new ingredients such as fruits and vegetables as well as an increasing demand for more sophisticated and healthier foods. There has also been a flurry of foreign restaurants making an appearance with Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, American, French, British, Irish restaurants now firmly established.

Bd’s Mongolian barbeque

Bd's Mongolian barbeque is the first U.S.-based restaurant to open a franchise in Mongolia. On May 12, 2005, the 4,800 square foot restaurant opened in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The restaurant supports the Mongolian Youth Development Foundation (MYDF), a non-profit organization based in Ulaanbaatar that focuses it's efforts on helping children.

Modern nomads

The "Modern Nomads" restaurant was established in July,2003 in order to fundraise for the Mongolian Youth Development Center(NGO) and we offer high-quality traditional Mongolian dishes. Quickly the restaurant has become one of the well-known and famous restaurants in Ulaanbaatar for Mongolians and foreigners alike. Due to the great success a second branch called "Nomad Legends Mongol Club" was opened one year later, which offers different-sized rooms that are well suited for business meetings as well as family celebrations. Finally the "City Nomads" buffet restaurant was opened in November 2004, which is conveniently located on the West side of Sukhbaatar Square.

Los Bandidos Mexican & Indian restaurant

The Menu includes European food, as well as Fish and Chips.
Overall a nice restaurant with friendly service, and it's definitely a place to check out for the inquisitive traveler. 

Pizza Della Casa

Pizza Della Casa is a quaint Pizza restaurant found just along Peace Avenue.
The food is varied, offering lots of food from around mainland Europe, there are also a wide range of pastas and salads. If it was ranked out of ten, it would get a generous 7/10.

Seoul restaurant

This excellent restaurant situated in the tranquility of the children’s park has magnificent views over the park and the mountains. It boasts real Korean food and at your table grills and hot plates to cook your own food exactly how you like it. There is also a large world buffet available on selected nights for those who need more than a kilogram of meat to satisfy their needs. Great for families, dates or just a fun night out.

Grand khan Irish Pub and Restaurant

The Irish Pub by the National Theatre is one of the better known drinking landmarks of UB, if only for its gigantic size.  Guinness  and Irish food available in the large drinking hall. In summer the outside terraces make it a favorite meeting place with the well to do locals. Bands go on stage on most evenings while the local girls dance through the night on the dancing floor.

Michele's Bakery in Ulaanbaatar

A small but delicious bakery between the state department store and the circus will fill you with memories of France with its warm “ pain au chocolat” , apple croissants and strong espressos. Alex, the French owner will tell you the tales of his native France while you try to decide which one of the baguettes you should have. Perfect for breakfast every morning and every other time in between.
